This is the place where I will ride bareback across fields, raise strong, beautiful children, and spend my evenings writing and reading by our blazing hearth.
(with David Beckham, furnished by Ralph Lauren Home, groceries delivered by yummy.com, and weekly visits to London.)

holy shit. i walked into solctice at the beverly center today and fell in love with these ($420) sunglasses- but with brown leather. the saleswoman asked if i wanted to try them on and i resisted for .01 seconds. i swear they must have dipped these shades in crack. i finally managed to get them off when i realized the chick was reaching for the security button.
- related note: if you are in the west hollywood/beverly hills/mid-wilshire area, in the mood for taking your lunch with a spectacular view, and only have 5 bucks to spend, hit the food court on the 7th floor of the beverly center. enjoy everything from sbarro to panda (okay just the typical shitty food court stuff) but you’re really there for the atmosphere. the inside feels like just another mall anywhere, but walk around the corner to the outdoor patio and your table for one (or two if you’re a really poor/resourceful date) awaits you. $5 panda special + $1,000,000 view = a bit of luxury on a buget. (bonus! it’s always empty on the weekdays). to me, there is nothing more luxurious than privacy.
anyway, getting back to business, i loved these freakin’ specs so much i looked them up online where they were going for $281! that’s $140 off retail! fortunately, as i was typing in my visa #, i realized that if i can’t afford $420 sunglasses i can’t afford $280 sunglasses either. (but i would accept a gift).
and so i wait, for the perfect pair of $20 sunglasses.
sometimes, i wake up after sleeping for a few hours and just can’t get back to sleep. too many thoughts.
- i’m really craving a soft pretzel. the best pretzels in the world come from an amish pretzel shop in shipshewana.
- next weekend i am going to finally pull this old dresser out of the attic (left over from harrison, the old man who lived in my house before me) and sand/paint it. projects are good.
- tomorrow, nympha, our housekeeper is coming. that makes friday my favorite day of the week. i love the smell of cleaning supplies.
- i need to start making holiday travel plans.
- sweet, now i feel tired.
last night was without a doubt the worst halloween i have ever had. highlights of the night include:
- sitting in traffic for an hour and a half
- waiting in line at -mcdonalds- for 20 minutes because my friend wanted a hamburger
- finally getting to my favorite bar in la (akbar) only to leave 5 minutes later because someone we were with thought it was “boring”
- driving in heavy traffic with ultra-agressive, emotional people
- walking for a mile on hollywood blvd along with tens of thousands of the trashiest people in la
- going to the “awesome” club that was supposedly $5 cover charge only to find out that it was $40 to get in and then having people get mad at me because i’m being cheap- i’m sorry, but i’m not paying $40 to dance with a bunch of trashy drunk people.
- being the only person not completely wasted in a bar that was at twice its capacity.
- finally cutting my losses and walking the 3.8 miles back to my house (i google-mapped it)
the only good thing about last night was that my beer and 2 ginger ales were $5 total plus $3 tip. plans for the $40 i saved by not going to the trashy club include seeing southland tales (by the guy who did donnie darko) at the afi fest ($11) and the darjeeling limited ($11) and the rest toward a replacement ipod.
lessons learned: be more assertive when out with agressive, self -centered people, don’t hang out with agressive, self-centered people.
next year i’m going to netflix a hitchcock film and open a bottle of red.
- bicycle shopping via craigslist- i want an old one with funky handle bars for cruising around the ‘hood- budget $100.
- finish reading the glass bead game by hermann hesse.
- go to bikram- its been a month, it will hurt but i miss it.
- put together a care package for sunny.
- go see the darjeeling limited- wes anderson makes the funniest movies.
